Tsigaras Design presents Metal Armchairs at LOAD/UNLOAD 2: Memory Manual, a group exhibition at .sympan in Piraeus, curated by Athina Lasithiotaki. Bringing together artists and designers, the exhibition explores how objects, materials and spaces preserve traces of human experience, craftsmanship and memory.
Created for the exhibition, Metal Armchairs draws inspiration from the industrial heritage of Piraeus and its traditional sheet-metal workshops. Folded metal sheets form a precise geometric structure, contrasted with soft cushions upholstered in colourful street-art fabric. A low lounge profile and an independent footrest complete the composition.
Through this seating series, Christos Tsigaras translates the materials and making processes associated with the city into contemporary furniture. The project connects the exhibition’s exploration of memory with an everyday object, bringing industrial craftsmanship into a new context of comfort and use.
