    Rooftop Loft

Tsigaras Design Studio undertook the design of a loft on the rooftop of a contemporary office building, with the aim of creating a space that carefully balances architectural abstraction with the demands of daily functionality.

The loft was conceived as a flexible, private retreat, maintaining a constant visual relationship with the urban skyline and allowing natural light to flow freely, unbounded by artificial limits.

The main space is organized linearly, with geometric clarity and full perimeter transparency, using natural materials that introduce a tactile rhythm and distinct material presence. The kitchen unit, designed as a unified architectural element, enhances functionality without interrupting spatial continuity.

A key feature is the operable pergola, precisely integrated, offering control over light and shading conditions, while allowing the user to engage actively with the surrounding natural environment.

The outdoor space functions as an extension of the interior. Large marble slabs and cubist pebbles compose a calm surface, interrupted by a linear water feature—an elongated marble structure from which water gently overflows, introducing rhythm and sound into the space. This path, enriched by hydrophilic plants such as water lilies or equisetum, reinforces the connection with nature and transforms the rooftop into a quiet urban landscape.

The outdoor dining area, positioned in direct relation to the kitchen, supports spatial flow and integrates the use of the exterior into the daily program.

Finally, a resting zone is discreetly defined by a screen-like construction of horizontal wooden slats, regulating privacy and light while maintaining the visual continuity of the interior composition.
